One Question

One question picks the tape. Six hours for the Kookaburra. A day for the heat mask. Two weeks for the blue. Two months for LimeLine. Three for FlowMask. Match the job to the window and the tape comes off clean.

Masking Tape FAQs

Which masking tape do I need?

Start with one question: how long is it staying on? Up to six hours, take the Kookaburra (SM27). On and off within a day, the high temp M821. Up to two weeks outside, the blue A566. Up to two months, LimeLine (SM25). Up to three, FlowMask (K750). For everyday non-critical work there's SM01, and for blocking light rather than paint, P743.

How long can masking tape stay on outside?

It depends on the grade. In this range the rated outdoor windows for clean, residue-free removal run from 6 hours (SM27) through 24 hours (M821), 14 days (A566), 60 days (SM25) to 90 days (K750). These are rated maximums determined by standard test methods; conditions on the job vary, so test on your surface if the stay matters.

Can I mask in cold weather?

Pressure sensitive adhesives like to be warm. M821's data sheet recommends applying between 15°C and 30°C, and rolls stored below that need time to warm up before use, up to 24 hours. On a winter morning, keep the rolls inside or in the cab rather than the tray, and press the tape down firmly: maximum pressure gives maximum adhesion.

Which tape handles a low bake oven?

All the paint-side masks are oven rated: SM27 and A566 to 90°C, K750 to 100°C, SM25 to 120°C, and M821 tops the range at 160°C for up to 30 minutes. If the bake is the hard part of your process, M821 is the one built for it.

Will it pull paint off or leave residue?

Used inside its rated window, no. The washi masks (SM25 and K750) are designed so paint stays adhered to the tape when you pull it, no flaking on your work, and both remove without residue within their outdoor windows. A566 removes without residue for up to 14 days outside with no surface damage. The rule that matters: match the tape's window to the job's length.

Can I get a sample, custom widths, or talk to someone about supply?

Yes. We supply trial material so you can test a product on your actual surface before committing, and the range is available through distributors across Australia. Custom widths are available on several lines, and M821 can be cut anywhere from 6mm to 1445mm. Use the buttons below to request a sample or contact our team.
